A Note Before You Order

Choose the correct Solar DA-20 configuration for your pond and installation. The 2-panel system uses a 1/2 HP motor and requires a minimum pond depth of 36 inches. The 4-panel system uses a 3/4 HP motor and requires a minimum pond depth of 44 inches. The solar panel array also needs a suitable location with clear access to direct sunlight and a stable support structure.

Scott Aerator Solar DA-20 Pond Aerator

The Solar DA-20 Pond Aerator combines pond aeration with solar-powered operation for locations where running conventional electrical service may not be practical. The floating DA-20 produces a cascading, trumpet-shaped spray that circulates water, adds oxygen, and creates a visible water feature without requiring a traditional wired power connection.

Two system configurations are available. The 2-panel version uses a 1/2 HP motor and produces up to 200 gallons per minute, while the 4-panel version uses a 3/4 HP motor and produces up to 300 gallons per minute. The solar array powers the unit during daylight hours, with the Fhoton™ drive adjusting motor speed as available sunlight changes. The system does not rely on batteries for operation.

Configuration Guide

2-Panel Solar DA-20

The 2-panel configuration uses a 1/2 HP, 48-volt, three-phase motor and produces up to 200 gallons per minute.

The standard spray pattern measures approximately 4 feet high and 15 feet wide. A minimum pond depth of 36 inches is required.

The system includes two 340-watt, 60-cell high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels.

4-Panel Solar DA-20

The 4-panel configuration uses a 3/4 HP, 100-volt, three-phase motor and produces up to 300 gallons per minute.

The standard spray pattern measures approximately 5 feet high and 20 feet wide. A minimum pond depth of 44 inches is required.

The system includes four 340-watt, 60-cell high-efficiency monocrystalline solar panels.

Installation & Assembly

System Components

The Solar DA-20 system includes the DA-20 display aerator, the selected two- or four-panel solar array with frame, disconnect box, Fhoton™ drive solar inverter, and required wiring components.

Solar Panel Location

The solar array should be installed where the panels have clear access to direct sunlight. The installation instructions call for a stable support structure and recommend positioning the array toward solar south for optimal efficiency in the Northern Hemisphere.

Support Structure

The solar panel frame requires a suitable support structure and foundation. The supplied four-panel installation instructions specify two support I-beams installed approximately 5 feet deep and 128 inches apart on center. Follow the supplied installation documentation for the selected system before beginning assembly.

Electrical work must be performed by a licensed and qualified electrician. Follow all applicable local and national electrical codes and the safety procedures in the installation documentation.

Maintenance & Winter Operation

Solar Panel Maintenance

Keep obstructions clear from the solar array throughout the year. To maintain solar performance, periodically clean the PV panels using water only.

Aerator Maintenance

The oil-free stainless steel submersible motor is designed for low-maintenance operation. Keep the aerator and surrounding water path free from debris that could interfere with normal water flow.

Winter Operation

The Solar DA-20 is designed to remain in the water during winter. Turn off the power supply during freezing conditions and restore power after the water thaws. The manufacturer states that the components are designed to withstand sub-zero conditions without damage.

Warranty

5-Year Motor Warranty

The Solar DA-20 includes an unconditional 5-year motor warranty from Scott Aerator Company, subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question Answer
What is the Solar DA-20 designed to do? It is a solar-powered floating display aerator designed to circulate pond water, add oxygen, and provide a visible fountain spray.
What configurations are available? The Solar DA-20 is available as a 2-panel 1/2 HP system or a 4-panel 3/4 HP system.
How much water does the 2-panel model move? The 2-panel model produces up to 200 gallons per minute.
How much water does the 4-panel model move? The 4-panel model produces up to 300 gallons per minute.
Does the Solar DA-20 use batteries? No. The solar system uses PV panels and a Fhoton™ drive to operate the aerator during daylight hours without a battery bank.
What pond depth is required? The 2-panel system requires a minimum pond depth of 36 inches. The 4-panel system requires a minimum depth of 44 inches.
Can it be used in salt water? Yes. The manufacturer states that the DA-20 is designed for both fresh water and salt water.
Does it operate at night? The Solar DA-20 is designed for daytime aeration. It powers up with available sunlight and shuts down after dark.
What is included with the system? The system includes the DA-20 aerator, two or four solar panels with frame, disconnect box, Fhoton™ drive solar inverter, and required wiring components.
