A Note Before You Order

Select the correct motor voltage and power configuration before ordering. For a 115V motor, the manufacturer states that the distance from the main breaker to the aerator should not exceed 100 feet. A GFCI is required, and power should always be disconnected whenever swimmers are present. Do not use an extension cord to supply power to the motor.

Scott Aerator Boilermaker Surface Aerator for Small, Residential Ponds

The Boilermaker is a low-profile floating surface aerator built to circulate large volumes of water and transfer oxygen throughout smaller ponds. Its broad, highly aerated surface effect provides substantial water movement without creating a tall fountain display, making it suited to pond owners who are focused on aeration and circulation.

The small residential Boilermaker is available in 1/3 HP, 1/2 HP, and 3/4 HP configurations, with flow rates from 300 to 450 gallons per minute. Each configuration uses an oil-free stainless steel submersible motor and is designed for continuous operation in fresh or salt water.

The Boilermaker can also be used for winter pond management. The manufacturer recommends shutting off power during freezing conditions while leaving the aerator in place, then restoring power after the water thaws.

Configuration Guide

Boilermaker 1/3 HP

Available in 115V or 230V with a 300 GPM flow rate. The 1/3 HP configuration requires a minimum pond depth of 32 inches.

Designed for ponds up to 3/4 acre. The 115V configuration draws 8 amps, while the 230V configuration draws 4 amps.

Boilermaker 1/2 HP

Available in 115V or 230V with a 400 GPM flow rate. The 1/2 HP configuration requires a minimum pond depth of 32 inches.

Designed for ponds greater than 1/8 acre. The 115V configuration draws 10 amps, while the 230V configuration draws 5 amps.

Boilermaker 3/4 HP

Available in 115V or 230V with a 450 GPM flow rate. The 3/4 HP configuration requires a minimum pond depth of 34 inches.

Designed for ponds greater than 1/8 acre. The 115V configuration draws 10.7 amps, while the 230V configuration draws 6.8 amps.

Installation & Assembly

Included Components

The Boilermaker assembly includes the floating platform, motor assembly, debris protection components, power cord, and required stainless steel hardware for assembly.

Anchoring

Two nylon ropes and two 20-pound weights or concrete blocks are required to anchor the aerator. Anchoring materials are not included with the unit. The anchors are positioned on the pond bottom to keep the aerator properly located during operation.

Electrical Installation

A GFCI is required for operation. Select the appropriate 115V or 230V motor based on the electrical installation and distance from the main breaker. The manufacturer recommends following applicable electrical requirements and disconnecting power whenever swimmers are present.

Maintenance & Winter Operation

Routine Maintenance

The oil-free submersible motor does not require routine oil changes. Periodic inspection and cleaning of the aerator and intake area can help keep water flow unobstructed and the unit operating properly.

Winter Operation

The Boilermaker can remain in the pond during winter. During freezing conditions, turn off the power and leave the aerator in place. Once the water thaws, power can be restored and the unit can resume operation.

Anchoring Lines

Inspect the anchoring ropes periodically for wear and replace them when necessary. The anchoring system should keep the aerator positioned correctly throughout normal operation.

Warranty

5-Year Motor Warranty

The Boilermaker motor is covered by Scott Aerator's 5-year motor warranty against defects under the manufacturer's warranty terms.

Warranty coverage is subject to the manufacturer's current warranty conditions and exclusions.
