A Note Before You Order

Select the correct motor voltage for your installation. The manufacturer recommends selecting a 230V motor when the distance from the main breaker to the unit exceeds the applicable 115V installation distance. A GFCI is required, and an extension cord should not be used to supply power to the motor. Disconnect power whenever swimmers are present.

Scott Aerator Slinger De-Icer

The Slinger De-Icer is designed to circulate water around docks, boats, pilings, marinas, and other waterfront structures to help prevent damaging ice buildup during winter. Suspended from a dock, piling, or boat with heavy-duty nylon ropes, the unit can be positioned where ice protection is needed.

Its oil-free, stainless steel submersible motor operates at 3,450 RPM and moves between 300 and 500 gallons of water per minute depending on the motor configuration. The Slinger De-Icer is available in 1/3 HP, 1/2 HP, 3/4 HP, and 1 HP models with 115V or 230V options.

The unit is designed for continuous operation in fresh or salt water and requires little routine maintenance. Standard Slinger models include a 25-foot submersible power cord, while longer cord options are available for installations requiring additional reach.

Installation & Assembly

Suspended Installation

The Slinger De-Icer is suspended from a dock, piling, boat, or other suitable waterfront structure using the included heavy-duty nylon suspension ropes. This allows the unit to be positioned where ice protection is needed.

Power Cord

Slinger and dock-mounted configurations include a 25-foot submersible power cord. The standard cord is 12-gauge for the 1/3 HP and 1/2 HP configurations. The 3/4 HP and 1 HP 115V configurations use 10-gauge cord, while the 230V versions use 12-gauge cord. Longer cord options are available.

Electrical Installation

A GFCI is required for operation. The manufacturer specifies that an extension cord must not be used to supply power to the motor. Select the motor voltage and cable size based on the installation distance and electrical requirements.

Mounting Options

The Slinger is one of several available De-Icer configurations. Installation accessories and mounting options include dock plates, truss mounts, dock post brackets, and other mounting hardware depending on the application.

Maintenance & Winter Operation

Routine Maintenance

The Slinger De-Icer requires very little routine maintenance under normal operating conditions. The manufacturer recommends changing the propeller assembly approximately every three years.

Cleaning and Inspection

When the unit is removed from the water for propeller service, the manufacturer recommends washing the De-Icer with high-pressure water and visually inspecting the entire unit to make sure nothing is restricting water flow.

Storage

If the De-Icer is removed from the lake or pond, the manufacturer recommends storing the pump submerged in a 5-gallon bucket of water to help prevent damage to the pump seals.

Winter Operation

The Slinger De-Icer is designed for winter operation and is intended to keep water moving around waterfront structures to help limit ice buildup. Follow the manufacturer's installation and electrical instructions for safe operation during freezing conditions.

Warranty

5-Year Motor Warranty

The Slinger De-Icer motor is covered by a 5-year warranty under the manufacturer's warranty terms.

The manufacturer states that its De-Icers are made in the USA and use oil-free stainless steel submersible motors.
