Scott Aerator North Star Fountain Aerator for Large, Commercial Ponds

The North Star is a floating fountain aerator built for larger ponds and commercial water features where strong circulation and a substantial visual display are both important. Its trumpet-style spray pattern moves large volumes of water while creating a broad surface current that helps distribute oxygen and reduce stagnant water, algae, and floating debris.

The large commercial North Star is available with 2 HP and 3 HP oil-free stainless steel motors. The 2 HP model moves approximately 700 gallons per minute, while the 3 HP model moves approximately 800 gallons per minute. Both models produce a display approximately 12 feet high and 18 feet wide and are designed for 24-hour-per-day operation. Optional lighting can be installed with the fountain or added later.

Configuration Guide

North Star 2 HP

The 2 HP model uses a 230V oil-free motor and moves approximately 700 gallons of water per minute. It produces a fountain display measuring approximately 12 feet high by 18 feet wide.

The 2 HP configuration requires a minimum pond depth of 42 inches and is intended for ponds greater than 1/2 acre.

North Star 3 HP

The 3 HP model uses a 230V oil-free motor and moves approximately 800 gallons of water per minute. It produces a fountain display measuring approximately 12 feet high by 18 feet wide.

The 3 HP configuration requires a minimum pond depth of 42 inches and is intended for ponds greater than 1/2 acre.

Optional Lighting

Light kits can be selected with the North Star or added later. Lighting options provide nighttime illumination for the fountain display without changing the aerator's core operating function.

Installation & Assembly

Easy Installation

The North Star is designed for straightforward installation in a suitable pond location. The fountain is secured in position using two anchoring lines connected to the unit and weighted anchors placed on the pond bottom.

Anchoring

Two weighted anchors or concrete blocks are required for the large commercial models. The 2 HP model uses two 45-pound weights or equivalent concrete blocks, while the 3 HP model uses two 55-pound weights or equivalent concrete blocks. Two nylon ropes are also required. Anchoring materials are not included.

Electrical Installation

A GFCI is required for operation. The large commercial North Star models use 230V power, and electrical installation should be completed according to applicable electrical requirements. Always disconnect power before entering the water or whenever swimmers are present.

Maintenance & Winter Operation

Routine Maintenance

The North Star uses an oil-free stainless steel submersible motor and is designed for low-maintenance operation. There is no oil to change, and the manufacturer states that routine maintenance is not required under normal operation.

Winter Operation

The North Star is designed to remain in the water during winter. Turn off the power before freezing conditions and leave the unit in place. After the ice thaws, restore power and the fountain can return to normal operation. The components are designed to withstand sub-zero conditions.

Salt Water Use

The North Star is approved for use in both fresh water and salt water, making it suitable for a range of pond and water-management applications.

Warranty

5-Year Motor Warranty

The North Star motor is covered by an unconditional 5-year motor warranty according to Scott Aerator's warranty terms. The fountain is manufactured with an oil-free stainless steel submersible motor designed for long-term operation.
