Quick Facts
A Note Before You Order
Select the correct motor voltage and cord configuration for your installation. A GFCI is required, and the manufacturer recommends using a licensed electrical contractor. For proper operation of a 115-volt motor, the distance from the main breaker to the fountain should not exceed 100 feet. Always disconnect power whenever swimmers are present.
Scott Aerator Amherst Fountain For Medium, Residential Ponds
The Amherst Fountain combines a three-tiered water display with practical pond circulation and oxygen transfer. Designed for medium-sized residential ponds, its classic fountain pattern creates a visible water feature while helping circulate water throughout the pond.
The medium residential Amherst is available with 1 HP and 1.5 HP oil-free motor configurations. The 1 HP version is offered in 115V or 230V, while the 1.5 HP configuration uses 230V power. Both configurations are designed for continuous operation and can be used in fresh or salt water. Light kits can also be added for nighttime operation.
Configuration Guide
Amherst Fountain 1 HP
The 1 HP Amherst Fountain is available in 115V or 230V configurations and provides a 75 GPM flow rate. It requires a minimum pond depth of 44 inches and produces a spray pattern measuring approximately 15 feet by 25 feet.
The 115V version is supplied with a 100-foot, 10-gauge submersible power cord with plug. The 230V version uses a 100-foot, 12-gauge submersible power cord. Longer cord lengths can be ordered.
Amherst Fountain 1.5 HP
The 1.5 HP Amherst Fountain uses 230V power and provides a 115 GPM flow rate. It requires a minimum pond depth of 50 inches and produces a spray pattern measuring approximately 15 feet by 30 feet.
The 1.5 HP configuration is supplied with a 100-foot, 12-gauge submersible power cord, with longer cord lengths available by order.
Specifications & Details
Installation & Assembly
Anchoring
The Amherst Fountain requires two nylon anchoring ropes and two weighted anchors or concrete blocks. The required anchor weight depends on the motor configuration. Anchoring components are not included with the fountain.
Electrical Installation
A GFCI is required for operation. The manufacturer recommends professional electrical installation and specifies that power should always be disconnected when swimmers are present. Select the appropriate voltage before installation.
115V Installation Distance
For proper operation of a 115-volt motor, the distance from the main breaker to the fountain or aerator should not exceed 100 feet. A 230-volt configuration should be selected when the installation requires greater distance.
Light Installation
Optional light kits can be added to the Amherst Fountain at the time of purchase or added later. Light options provide nighttime illumination for the fountain display.
Maintenance & Winter Operation
Routine Maintenance
The Amherst Fountain is designed for low-maintenance operation. Its oil-free submersible motor eliminates the need for oil changes, and the manufacturer states that no routine maintenance is required.
Winter Operation
The fountain is designed to remain in place during winter conditions. Power should be shut off during freezing conditions, and operation can resume after the water thaws. The fountain is designed to withstand sub-zero conditions.
Salt Water Use
The Amherst Fountain is approved for use in salt water as well as fresh water, allowing the same fountain design to be used in a variety of pond and water feature environments.
Warranty
5-Year Motor Warranty
The Amherst Fountain motor is covered by a 5-year warranty. Scott Aerator states that its fountains and aerators carry an unconditional 5-year motor warranty.
Additional warranty options are available for selected motors and light kits at the time of purchase.
