Quick Facts

Feature Detail
Ice Control A 1 HP motor pulls warm water up from below and keeps it moving, so your spot stays open even under 1 to 8 inches of ice.
Open Water Coverage Under normal conditions it clears an area about 20 by 35 yards. Allow ample run time to reach the full opening.
Working Depth Runs in water 1 to 8 feet deep on the adjustable stand, or hangs from a dock or pole using the eye bolts.
Power Options Choose 120v or 220v. Every model includes a 100 foot power cord, and the 120v Ice Ripper is also offered with a 200 foot cord.
Freshwater or Saltwater Corrosion resistant components make it suitable for both. A zinc anode is recommended in saltwater.
Built in the USA Aluminum propeller, powder coated frame, and built-in handles, all made in the USA.
Warranty 2 year motor, limited lifetime cage and stand, and lifetime propeller coverage.
Motor Protection Built-in thermal overload protection guards the motor against overheating all season.

A note before you order

The Ice Ripper pulls extra power at startup, so plan your setup first. Plug it into a GFCI protected outlet and make sure your generator or circuit can handle the load: 2000 watts minimum, and a 15 amp circuit for each Dock Unit. Only run it while it is fully submerged, and keep children and animals clear while it operates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question Answer
How thick can the ice be? The Ice Ripper is built for spots covered in 1 to 8 inches of ice. It keeps warm water circulating so open water holds through hard freezes.
How large of an opening will it make? Under normal conditions, about 20 by 35 yards. Give it plenty of run time to reach the full size.
What water depth does it need? On the stand, it works in water 1 to 8 feet deep. You can also hang it from a dock or pole using the eye bolts.
Should I choose the Ice Ripper or the Dock Unit? Pick the Ice Ripper for open water where you want the unit positioned on its own stand. Pick the Dock Unit if you have a dock to tie off to.
Which voltage should I choose? Match it to your power source. The 120v models use a standard 3 prong 120v plug and the 220v model uses a standard 3 prong 220v plug.
Can I run it on a generator? Yes. You need a generator rated at 2000 watts or more to cover the startup draw.
How does the optional thermostat work? You set a temperature, and when the air drops below it the thermostat sends power to your Ice Ripper. It runs only when it is cold enough to need it, which saves energy. It works with 120v models only.
Is it safe for saltwater? Yes. It works in freshwater and saltwater, and a zinc anode is recommended for saltwater.
Can I use it for duck hunting? Yes. It keeps your spot open for decoys well into winter, and the built-in handles make it easy to move between spots.
Will it protect my dock and boat? Yes. Keeping the water around a dock or boat open helps prevent ice from pressing against them. Ponds, lakes, and marinas are all good fits.
How heavy is it? The Ice Ripper weighs 55 lbs with the stand and 35 lbs without. The Dock Unit weighs 35 lbs.
Does it need assembly? Some assembly is needed. The Manuals & Guides section above links to the assembly instructions.
Where is it made? The Ice Ripper is made in the USA.
